Our Mission & Vision

North-South Development Roots and Culture Canada empowers youth and families through education, mentorship, and community programs that build safer, stronger, and more resilient communities.

Advocating For Identity And Culture

Founded in March 2012, North-South Development Roots and Culture Canada (R&C) is committed to making a positive impact in the community. We advocate for the Black community’s identity and culture while promoting inclusion across areas such as immigration, communication, cultural development, artistic production, education, and youth well-being.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower young people by equipping them with the mindset, skills, and opportunities to achieve their aspirations and contribute meaningfully to society.

Our programs are grounded in the core principle of reducing crime and enhancing community safety and well-being in Canada through evidence-based prevention strategies. We focus on early intervention and public education, particularly among middle and high school-aged youth, to raise awareness of sensitive issues such as gang violence and sexual exploitation.

Our Vision

We envision a future where young people and their families are meaningfully engaged in their communities—through critical thinking, education, employment, mentorship, and social or recreational activities.

By equipping youth with the skills and support they need, we aim to help them overcome systemic barriers, take on leadership roles, and actively participate in shaping decisions that affect their lives.
